What it means to live a simple life
Balance & Mindfulness
So what?
This post is part of a 5-part series on what it means to live a simple life. In case you missed it, refer here for our introductory post on the series.
Balance
Another important aspect of living a simple life means finding balance and harmony between all segments of your life. Whether it be your family, friends or work, you need to strike a balance by consciously allocating time and effort to these areas of your life. By doing so, you will avoid the pitfalls of excessively focusing on one area while neglecting others. This leads to burnout and lack of fulfilment.
You will find balance through setting boundaries, learning to say no to unnecessary commitments, and prioritising activities that align to your values and aspirations. It is important to regularly assess your priorities and adjust your balance appropriately. Don’t forget to make time for self-care and leisure.
Mindfulness
Simple life is intertwined with the practice of mindfulness. This is because being mindful and present encourages you to engage with the present moment and have a heightened sense of awareness. You will break free from past regrets and future anxieties. By finding solace in the present moment allows you to enjoy and appreciate simple joys. Whether you take time to feel the warmth of the sun on your face, sharing laughters with your loved ones or drinking your favourite cup of team, all these simple and easy things will bring joy and fulfilment to you.
What now?
- Take a moment to assess your priorities and identify areas that need attention.
- Incorporate mindfulness into your life by taking a few minutes each day to meditate or engagement in mindful activities.
