So what?
ICYMI – In today’s post, we delve into enhancing your productivity and the impact it can have on your life. Living in a world full of opportunities as well as demands, boosting your productivity has evolved from having an advantage to it being absolutely necessary. We discuss five ways that you can be more efficient and effective with what you do on a day to day basis to achieve your personal goals as well as maximise your time for success in your professional capacity. Whether you’re looking for strategies for time management, tools to innovate the way you do things, this series of posts will provide you with useful tips and tricks in being more productive.
Batching
Have you ever felt overwhelmed by barraging tasks? I sure have felt that way and still do often. When I have a barrage of tasks, I turn to the magic of batching. Batching is simple yet super effective. Batching minimises your mental load of switching between different types of tasks which in turn makes you more efficient and effective.
To start batching, start by identifying tasks that you need to do for the day and/or week. Once you know what you need to do, group them together by type or similarity. So, instead of checking your emails throughout the day, allocate a specific time for email management. Example of types are things like phone calls, creative tasks, administrative work and emailing as I mentioned. You are transforming chaos into a more organised and productive day!
My experience
I use daily planning and batching on a daily basis. As I discussed in my previous post, I plan my day in the morning and set my intention for the day. While planning for the day, I make a list of things I need to do for the next few days and group them together as I mentioned above. I then allocate times by blocking out my calendar for those times. It’s that simple! Not much to it.
