What have you failed at

You’re a failure

The inevitable outcome of things you do

So what?

Failures are not all bad. To turn failures to good, you need to:

  • Learn from your mistakes;
  • Avoid the spiral of self criticism; and
  • Do better next time.

What is failure?

Failure is the inevitable outcome of things you do. The degree of failure may differ by the level of success at which we do or not do. It is certainly a thing that we cannot void.

We all fail, whether we like it or not, no matter who you are, how experienced you are, how much money you have or how old you are. If you don’t like to fail, learn to deal with it.

How should you deal with failures?

There are many ways that you can deal with failures. How we deal them is important as it affects us and those around us. We should be masters at it since we teach it to our kids but we are not.

As you know, we are all about simplicity. Below are 3 simple ways.

  1. Mind your emotions: You need to identify the emotions that you are experiencing and embrace them. Use your emotions to motivate you and work harder.
  2. Be nice: How you cope with failures affect you and those around you. Be nice to and don’t be hard on yourself and others.
  3. Learn: Failures will stay as failures if you don’t learn from it. Make a plan for moving forward and learning from your failures.

Simplicity is key

Failure is not a failure. Simplify your life not by being dragged by your failures but embracing what will inevitably happen to you time after time.

My experience

I experienced a mental breakdown and a panic attack in February 2020. I let failures build up inside of me until my life came down crashing like an avalanche. Rather than turning to what were my usual vice (i.e. drinking, smoking), I decided to try the three simple things noted above. I meditated to mind my emotions. I wasn’t hard on myself and my family. And I recognised what went wrong and came up with a plan to move forward. Working on my mental health is a constant effort which I’m expecting for it to be a long-winded road but I’m still here aren’t I? It has and will be worth it.

What now?

Stop and think. It’s an opportunity to learn. It’s an opportunity to better yourself. It’s an opportunity, not a misfortune.
