This post is different from our previous posts. You won’t find how to simplify your life. What you will read about is why you need to.
Why less is more
Having less brings more good things in your life. Importantly, more joy, control, clarity and meaning. Keep reading to find out why less is more.
Why simplicity brings more joy
Joy comes from your ability to be present in the moment. You will be able to capture the joy and happiness when they inevitably breeze by. It’s much easier to capture joyful memories when your life is simple.
Why simplicity brings more control
The simpler your life, the more confidence you will have from getting more done and learning to say no. More confidence leads to having more power to change you and what you do.
Why simplicity brings more clarity
As you simplify your life, it will be easier to reorder life’s priorities from what matters to what doesn’t. Your life will become more about having clarity on what really matters and executing on those things.
Why simplicity brings more meaning
Combining the above, your life will have more meaning. What you do will be what matters more. It will bring more joy. You will have more control and clarity. Simplicity will simply bring more meaning to your life.
My experience
I used to be a hoarder. Not as extreme as those you see on TV shows, but a hoarder nonetheless. I took time to take stock of my life as part of my recovery process from my mental breakdown. I started with getting rid of what didn’t matter or dragged me down. I walked away from things that had no meaning. Slimming down allowed me to see what mattered and what didn’t. Less complications and clutter in life made it easier for me to be present and surround myself with what made me happy and content.
What now?
- Is your life complicated and cluttered?
- Take a quick look around you and see what you can simplify right now, at this present time.
- And simply it!
