Never a waste of your time (Part 5)

Things that are never a waste of time

Don’t waste your time

So what?

ICYMI – We recently posted about how to know when it’s the right day for someday so you don’t waste your time tackling your someday things on the wrong day. There are things in life that you don’t need to wait for the right day to come by. Doing things that are never a waste of time ensures you to spend your time wisely. Keep reading to find out the things that you can do without ever wasting your time and effort.

Time spent doing what you love

As we mentioned in our last post, some things can’t be done later. Putting yourself on the back burner and not taking care of yourself is a sure way to have less energy, motivation and fun in your life. There are health benefits such as reduced stress, more positive emotions, less sickness and boost to your brain functions. In addition, you will have more fulfilment in life, be more productive and guaranteed success even if you fail. Whether you succeed or fail by societal norms as a result of doing what you love, you will have spent time doing what you love and benefited from all the good things that come with it.

Cooking a healthy meal

Cooking at home compared to ordering Uber takes time. Going to the shops to buy ingredients, searching for recipes, prepping ingredients, cooking and baking take away valuable time from your day. Notwithstanding, our body, mind and soul benefit from every step required to cook a healthy meal. It allows time away from the busyness of life, forces us to be creative and results in a healthier lifestyle. There are added benefits such as the enjoyment you will get from sharing the healthy meal with your loved ones, supporting your local businesses and farmers and having leftovers that you can take to work.

My experience

I’m a person of simple pleasures. What I cook for myself is always very simple so I don’t need to spend much time preparing my meals. What I spend time quite a lot on is doing what I love and loving what I do. Even if it’s a mundane task like washing dishes or cleaning the toilet, I practice mindfulness and try to enjoy them. Whatever I do, it gives me an opportunity to be grounded and spend that time wisely even if what I’m doing is not very wise or useful.

What now?

  • What do you love doing? Do you make time to do them regularly?
  • Are you addicted to Uber or Deliveroo? Take time at least once a week to cook a healthy meal for yourself and your loved ones. Sticking to simple recipes like spaghetti bolognaise or steak and potatoes won’t take more than ordering delivery and waiting for it at the door.
