Glutes
Not just for a tight butt
So what?
I recently became aware of how important having strong glutes are. I’ve always had a bad posture but recently engaged a physiotherapist for another injury that I had who commented about my posture and weakness in my glutes. Doing further research, I realised that glutes are more than just aesthetics. While sculpted buns are undeniably appealing, the real magic lies in the functional benefits. Imagine your glutes as the powerhouse of your body—a force that propels you forward, stabilizes your hips, and safeguards against injuries. Here are five compelling reasons why nurturing your glutes is a game-changer:
- Injury prevention
- Improved mobility
- Back stress relief
- Hamstring happiness
- Overall wellness
Here are two quick, surefire ways to improve your glute strength.
Quadruped Hip Extensions
- Begin on your hands and knees, aligning your wrists under your shoulders and knees under your hips.
- Lift one leg straight back, keeping it in line with your spine. Squeeze your glutes at the top of the movement.
- Lower the leg back down and repeat on the other side.
Glute Bridges
- Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor.
- Lift your hips off the ground, creating a straight line from your shoulders to your knees. Squeeze your glutes at the top.
- Hold the bridge position or perform repetitions.
What now?
- Do these once a day. You will be super surprised at the results!
